How to Install Covenant on Kodi 17.6 Krypton
In what is being hailed as the biggest news this year for Kodi fans, the owners of the Exodus add-on have formed a far more functional and better-looking add-on called Covenant Kodi. It is heavily rumored that they took this decision in light of the mass of copyright claims and legal issues that Exodus was exposed to.
In this post, we show you exactly what you need to do in order to install Covenant of Kodi 17.6 Krypton. This sought-after add-on is ready and waiting for you to install it from the Kodi repo.
While the Exodus Kodi add-on was viewed as one of the best Kodi add-ons for a very long time, the subsequent demise ended up with a wealth of Exodus forks, and the best one of all is Covenant, and rightly so, it is considered to be the very best alternative and successor to Exodus.
1. What is the Covenant Kodi Add-on?
The developer of Covenant, Lambda is the same as Exodus. This makes it the true successor of the iconic Exodus add-on.
In fact, the UI is even almost the exact same, but just that little bit better. In many ways, Covenant outperforms Exodus as it is far more stable and offers a better feature set overall. Because Exodus is no longer updated, this makes Covenant even more appealing.
Most people who are reading this post will have already installed KODI on their PC or Firestick. In this is not the case, then you need to do this now. Kodi boasts the largest library of media content, and due to the sheer number of contributors on the platform, the content is kept updated, and the library keeps on expanding.
So, let’s to get down to the details and uncover how you can install Covenant on Kodi 17.6 Krypton.
2. Different Ways to Install Covenant on Kodi
There are two distinct methods of installing Covenant onto Kodi. The best one for you will depend on whether or not you have a Firestick or not.
The first method of installing Covenant onto Kodi is simply a direct download method. The second method involves adding a source repo (the second method is best if you have a Firestick).
3. Method 1 – Installing Covenant onto Kodi with a PC
In order to make this approach work, you need to download Kodi directly by using the Covenant Kodi Zip File first, then install that onto Kodi. This is by far the quickest and easiest way to install any type of add-on for Kodi.
There are a few quick steps you need to follow in order to do this.
Stage 1 – Find and download the Covenant Kodi Zip File from the Kodi Repo. Make sure you save the file into a directory that you will easily be able to recall at a later point in time.
Stage 2 – Now you need to launch Kodi and then click through in order to open the add-ons menu. Then, open up the package installer.
Stage 3 – For this step, you need to select to open the install from the Zip file and then head over to the directory location where you saved the file earlier in stage 1.
Stage 4 – When you have selected the zip file, you will find that the installation process should automatically commence. Once completed, there will be a little pop-up message that appears in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
Stage 5 – Just as you did earlier in stage 2, you need to go back and open up the package installer. However, this time, you need to select install from repository>all repository’s>Video Add-Ons. Keep n scrolling until you come across the Covenant option and click to open.
Stage 6 – The automated download process will now begin. As soon as the process is complete, you will then be automatically prompted to install. Ignore any warning and just proceed. You will get a short advisory message; here you simply need to switch ‘on’ acceptance to install from unknown sources.
Mission Complete! You have now installed Covenant on Kodi.
4. Method 2 – Installing Covenant onto Kodi with Firestick
The first method we have outlined in this post will not always work for everyone, all of the time. If you want to get Covenant onto your Firestick Kodi, this is the most effective way to do this.
This approach involves needing to add source repo’s to Kodi, followed by the download and installation of Covenant.
In this instance, we are using the Kodil Repository, but you can use any repo as long as it is operational and working.
Stage 1 – Launch Kodi and open up the settings menu. Click the ‘file manager’ icon and open.
Stage 2 – Select the option to ‘add a source.’ When you do this, a little box will present itself; you simply need to click ‘none’ when prompted. A new menu will appear, prompting you to add in a URL. Please copy and paste any of the following addresses, then click ‘ok.’:
Stage 3 – When prompted for the media source name, you need to enter in ‘kodil,’ always cross check this point carefully depending on which URL you used in the previous stage. Make sure you only click ‘ok.’
Stage 4 – Click to go back a number of layers until you reach the main menu, then select to re-open the add-ons menu again.
Stage 5 – Click the open-box icon in order to open up the package installer. Select to open the install from the zip file.
Stage 6 – Navigate and locate the Kodil option, then proceed to open Kodil.zip, and click on ‘ok.’ This will kick-start the installation process.
Stage 7 – Go back to the main menu and select to open ‘add-ons’ in the package installer as you did earlier in stage 5. However, on this occasion, you need to open the install directly from the repo, this will be a drop-down option that is labeled ‘install from repository.’
Stage 8 – Choose the Kodil Repository and then choose ‘video add-ons.’ Scroll down the list until you find the option for Covenant, then select ‘open.’ This will start the download process. Once this has completed, you will just need to follow the prompts to complete the process. If any warnings appear, simply ignore them and proceed. You will almost certainly see a warning that states you should not install third-party add-ons, just ignore it.
Stage 9 – You will be directed to a settings menu; here, you need to look for the option to ‘turn on’ installation from unknown sources.
Mission Complete! You have now installed Covenant on Kodi Firestick!
